Today I cook Turnip in my kitchen. It is called white Turnip also and this belongs to Mustard family. Its leaves are also cooked like Mustard leaves . You may follow the recipe. It is a seasonal root vegetable. It has many benefits. That’s why I decided to share the Turnip Recipe with you. May be you like the way I cook this dish. Lets start The Turnip Recipe
Time Consumption Estimate:
washing and cutting time: 15 to 20 minutes
Cook time: 20 to 25 minutes
if you are an active person you can manage all process in 30 to 35 minutes.
Turnip roots 1 kg
water to boil 1 and half cup
Any cooking Oil 2 tablespoon
onion 2 medium size
tomato 2 medium size
ginger and garlic paste 1 tablespoon
salt 1 teaspoon or according to taste
chili powder quarter teaspoon or less according to your taste.
turmeric powder half teaspoon
any hot spice powder which you like for fragrance
coriander and green chili for garnishing
Method to Cook Turnip:
Bring fresh Turnip from Market or fields.
Wash them properly and place them in basket.
Take a sharp knife and peel only the rough skin and cut into 4 to 5 slices.
Take a pan or instant pot or pressure cooker according to your choice.
add water and sliced Turnip. Close the lid and boil in closed lid for 3 to 4 minutes. pan may take 10 minutes to tender the Turnip.
Drain the water. Place in basket
Add oil in a pan. Heat it. Add onion and fry until they get light brown color.
Add red chili and turmeric powder. Fry for one minute and immediately add ginger garlic paste and fry.
add chopped tomatoes and chopped green chili and fry.
If you want the fried mixture to become paste then add half cup water and tender it.
Add boiled Turnip and fry. Now you can blend it with hand blender like me or you can chop it in chopper.
Fry until the Turnip get some dry texture.
switch off the heat.
Add garnishing items and close the lid.
Take out in a plate when to serve.
serve with simple chapati or any bread or rice.
