I cooked today Mustard Leaves. Now a days, Mustard crop is growing in our area. I have the belief that any fruit or vegetable growing in your area is the best food for you according to your body demands. That vegetable and fruit is best gift for you from Nature. So Mustard Leaves are called Saag in our area. it is the signature food of winter here. We directly cut it from fields and cook it on wood fire which enhances the taste of Mustard leaves.
Mustard Leaves happened to be change in every area. I suggest you to cook your Mustard leaves according to my recipe. You will love this dish.
Ingredients:
- Mustard leaves 1 kg
- Water 3 to 4 litre
- Butter or oil
- Onion 2 pieces
- Garlic 1 inch chopped
- Tomato 2 pieces
- Ginger paste 1 tea spoon
- Salt 1 tea spoon
- Red chili1 tea spoon
How to cook Mustard leaves.
Step 1: Cutting
Bring fresh Mustard leaves from market
Chop it into smallest pieces .
Wash it twice
Step 2: Boiling
Place a big saucepan quarter filled with water
Let the water boil
Now add mustard leaves into boiling water
Let it boil for 10 to 15 minutes on high flame
Check the leaves if they are softened then strain the leaves
Step 3: Cooking
Now take another saucepan on fire.
Add butter to melt.
Add chopped onions and fry them till they get light brown color.
Add chopped ginger and fry it.
Add tomato salt red chili.
Add chopped and boiled mustard leaves.
U can blend with machine or by hand blender.
After few minutes of cooking, your dish is ready.
Serving:
Take the food of Mustard Leaves in plate.
Garnish it with some chopped ginger, coriander and green chili.

If you want the texture To be more soft like me.
Then I tell you the tip that I use 1/4 part spinach with Mustard leaves. It will make your dish more tasty.
In our family, mustard leaves are cooked especially in clarified butter which enhances the taste and benefit.
